I have been teaching since 2003. I have taught in primary, secondary, mainstream and SEND. I am now a full-time SEND tutor, working 1-1 with SEND children aged 3 to 18, throughout Kent, Essex and London.
Since 2003, I have taught thousands of children from 3-18. I have taught the 'a' sound in Nursery through to 'Political Economy' at A-Level. I can teach English and Mathematics from EYFS to GCSE. In 2022, I began working as a full-time tutor with SEND schools, Local Authorities and privately. I also tutor children for the 11+ and for Functional Skills exams.
My job is to teach knowledge and skills. That starts with the learner, recognising their unique needs, motivations and triggers. Through careful planning, preparation and tuition, learning takes place and success is achieved. The beauty of tutoring, is that a range of interventions and strategies can be used, 1-1, at the correct pace for the child.
I am a member of The Tutor's Association and satisfy all necessary legal requirements (GDPR etc.). I have Qualified Teacher Status (2004) and my Enhanced DBS is on the Update Service. I annually complete Safeguarding Training. I also have Public Liability Insurance worth £5,000,000. All relevant documents will be provided.

The SG in SG SEND Tutor stands for Stephen Garnett. My professional passions are pedagogy, curricula and SEND. My work is the teaching of children through 1-1 tutoring sessions. I masked throughout my childhood, and long into adulthood, due to undiagnosed Autism and ADHD. My children are autistic and one also has ADHD. My working day starts at 09:30 and ends at 18:00. This means I can get my children into school and support their early morning transition. Adapting parts of ourselves to a neurotypical world can be challenging but I have seen children (and adults) flourish when they come to know themselves and turn their unique characteristics, the parts that certainly do not need adapting, into superpowers. If you would like academic support for a SEND child, whether you are a school, a local authority or a parent, whatever the child's age or present levels, then do make contact below and let us begin the conversation. My work takes place in various locations - homes, libraries, schools, cafes, for example - and I can work with you to deliver what you need. Each child is unique and each, with the right support, can learn and develop in awesome (and inspiring) ways.
1-to-1, face-to-face, online and hybrid, there are many approaches that can be taken to deliver SEND tuition. Do make contact to discuss your SEND tuition needs. I look forward to hearing from you.
